LSD peddling: 5 students put on remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday placed five students of a private university on a five-day remand each in a case filed on the charges of being involved in the consumption and the sale of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) drug.
Magistrate Atiqul Islam of the CMM Court passed the order on Monday following a remand plea of police.
The five accused are Saiful Islam alias Saif (20), S M Monwar Akib alias Anam (20), Nazmus Sakib (20), Nazmul Islam (24) and B M Sirazus Salekin alias Topu(24).
Earlier, police produced the five accused in the court and sought a 10-day remand for each accused.
But the court granted police a five-day remand for each accused to interrogate them in custody after hearing both of the parties.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of Mothijheel unit said, they have traced another 15 groups involved with LSD drug business and seized 2,000 microgram LSD, Ice and cannabis.
Earlier, the LSD stamps were found for the first time as the detectives were investigating the death of a Dhaka University (DU) student on 26 May. Three more university students were also detained in this connection.
