A total of five students of the Department of Soil, Water & Environment of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “SWED-DU Trust Gold Medal” while 18 students of the same department have received scholarships for their outstanding academic results in various examinations.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the gold medals and scholarships among the awardees as the chief guest at a function held on Saturday at the Departmental Auditorium of the university.
Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water & Environment Prof Aminur Rahman Majumder presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Shahid Akhtar Hossain addressed it as special guest.
Senior teacher of the Department Prof S M Imamul Huq and Executive Director of the Trust Prof Md Didar-Ul-Alam also addressed the function.
Prof Arefin urged the students to make themselves a worthy citizen with intelligence, patriotism, honesty and morality. He also urged the students to work hard in reaching the benefit of Independence to the doorsteps of general people of the country.
