At least five makeshift structures, including two rickshaw garages, were gutted by a fire that broke out inside Korail slum at Mohakhali in the city early Friday.
Fire Service control room sources said, the fire originated from an electric short circuit in a small structure at about 4:44 am.
Eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame at about 5:12 am, said Inspector Shahjadi Sultana of the fire service control room.
She said, two rickshaw garages, two small grocery shops, one tea stall and one semi-pucca house burnt down in the incident. But, no casualty was reported in the fire incident, Inspector Shahjadi added.
