5 Shibirmen sued for attack on CU bus

CU Correspondent :The administration of Chittagong University has suspended five activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamat-e-Islami, on charge of their involvement in a bomb attack on the faculty-carried busses on September 10, which left 11 teachers, among others, injured. The decision was taken at the syndicate meeting presided over Vice-Chancellor Anwarul Azim Arif yesterday (Tuesday) noon. They are Abdul Halim, a second year student of Mathematics, Mohammad Amin Uddin and Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, fourth year students of Islamic Studies, and Tauhidul Islam and Mohammad Yousuf.Masum Ahmed of Philosophy, a syndicate member, told the New Nation that the meeting took the decision apart from the removal as the five accused are now under judgment and the process of judgment is going on. The final decision about removal of the accused will be taken after trial of the case, he also added.Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Siddiqi, Secretary, CU Teacher Association said, they are satisfied with the decision. Meanwhile, 22 Chhatra League men were suspended for different periods on the charge of their involvement in clobbering policemen and journalists, among others in a meeting on September 26.
