Police in a drive arrested five Shibir activists and recovered at least 130 crude bombs, two litres of petrol, one kilogram gunpowder, 10 kilograms chips of stone, 10 pieces of scotch tape, 27 envelopes, 12 magazine books and some other materials from the city’s Mohakhali early Wednesday.
The arrested activists have been identified as Mustafizur Rahman, President of Chhatra Shibir, Banani Thana unit
his aides Jainul Abdin, 21, Arifuzzaman, 18, Khalid Saifullah, 19, and Atiar Rahman, 22.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman disclosed it to the reporters at the DMP Media Centre on Wednesday.
A team of police conducted a drive in a residence near Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital Gate, Mohakhali under Banani Police Station around 4:15am where the Shibir activists gathered for a secret meeting and to attack vehicles and establishments during ongoing hartal and blockade, the police official said.
