5 Rohingya ‘robbers’ held in Cox’s Bazar

The arrestees were identified as Md Karim, 46, son of late Rafiq of BB zone 1-2 of Modhuchhara village, Md Amin, 26, son of late Habibullah of Modhuchhara, Kutupalong AA-B block, Md Shaker, 20, son of Nur Mohammad of Modhuchhara AA-B block, Md Rashid, 21, son of late Nur Alam of Kutupalong E-1 (New) village and Md Nur Islam, 26, son of Abu Bakkar of Naitongpara of Ukhia.
Being informed that some robbers gathered for commits robbery in the area, a team of Rab-7, conducted a drive at the area around 9:05pm and arrested them along with seven sharp weapons, said a press release of the elite force.
In primary interrogation, the arrestees confess to the elite force that they had been involved with robbery at the area and snatched money and valuables from the locals, the release added.
The arrested were handed over to Ukhia Police Station.
5 to die for ‘tomtom’ driver murder : A district court of Coxs Bazar has awarded life-term imprisonment to five persons for killing a tomtom (3-wheeler) driver at Himchori area of Cox’s Bazar.  
Judge of Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge Court Mir Shafiqul Alam delivered the verdict yesterday. The death-row convicts are – Soydul Amin, son of Abdul Haque of Ramu upazila, Md Rafique, son of late Ismail, from Teknaf upazila, Enam Uddin Rubel, son of late Shafi, Shah Newaj, son of late Nuruzzaman, from Chakaria upazila, Shafiqul Islam, son of Tajul Islam, from Teknaf. Of them, Shah Newaj and Shafiqul Islam are on the run.
Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court Dilip Kumar Dhar told that the tomtom driver Jahirul Alam was murdered in Himchori on January 1, 2013.
