A court here on Friday placed five people on remand of different terms in connection with the missing of Tk 50 lakh of Sitakunda branch of Pubali Bank Ltd.
Four of them-Pubali Bank’s Sitakunda branch junior cash officer Rajibur Rahman and its three security guards Ashiqur Rahman, Azharul Islam and Tajur Rahman-were put on two days’ remand while bank’s microbus driver Bijoy Kumar Das on a one-day remand.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiplu Kumar Dey passed the order after sub-inspector of Sitakunda Police Station Riaz Mahmud produced them before the court in the afternoon, said officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Police Station Eftekhar Hasan.
A total of Tk 81 lakh was sent to the Sitakunda branch of of Pubali Bank Ltd from the Chittagong zonal branch on Thursday morning. However, an amount of Tk 50 lakh went missing while the money was being transferred again to the Agrabad branch in the afternoon in a microbus. Later, police detained the five people for interrogation in this regard. A case was filed against them with the police station on Thursday night.
