A court here on Sunday placed five people, arrested in connection with the seizure of liquid cocaine at Chittagong Port, on a one-day remand each.
Those who were remanded are Golam Mostofa Sohel, prime hatchery manager of
Khan Jahan Ali Group; AK Azad, manager of Cosco Bangladesh Shipping Line; Atiqur Rahman, commercial executive of Mondol Group; Mehedi Alam, an official of securities business; and developer Mostofa Kamal.
Additional Judge of the Chief Metropolitan Court Nurul Alam Lipu passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Additional Police Super of Rapid Action Battalion M Mahiuddin seeking a two-day remand.
Liquid cocaine was detected in a consignment of 107 drums of Bolivian sunflower oil which the customs intelligence officials seized at Chittagong Port on June 8 last.
