A mobile court of Chittagong District Administration on Thursday fined five pharmacies and seized huge quantities of food supplements and physicians’ samples from the city’s Patharghata area.
Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong District Administration Thamilur Rahman led the mobile court at Patherghata and Iqbal road area under Kotwali thana and fined Tk 40 thousand for selling unauthorized and date expired medicines and physicians’ samples. The mobile court also seized huge quantities of date expired medicine and physicians’ samples during the drive.
The executive magistrate said the pharmacies were selling unapproved and date expired medicines and medicines used as physicians’ samples, which is legally punishable. The pharmacies were fined under Drug Act 1940, the executive magistrate added.
