5 outsiders held for gambling at SAU 14 staff to face action

A total of 19 gamblers, including five outsiders, were picked up by Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) administration on charge of betting cards at Employees Welfare Association in the university on Sunday night.
Of them, the outsiders have been handed over to police while the SAU employees were released based on undertaken.
The outsiders are Chan Mia, Manik, labour of Horticulture Farm. Sahabuddin, Paka Market rickshaw trader, Asadul Islam and
Contactor Sarower of Adabor thana, police said. The SAU staff members are Polash Kanthi Mandol, Lab Assistant under Pathology Department, Md Nabir, Senior Lab Attendant at Aquaculture Department. Jahangir, Security Guard, Juwel Rana, Sweeper of State Department, Arif Hossain, labour of Farmhouse, Shawpon, labour of Entomology Department, Delower Hossain, guard of teachers association, Kabir Hossain, Dining Manager at Sher-e-Bangla Hall, Ashraful, Lab Attendant of Animal Nutrition Department. Iddiris Mridha, guard of Security Branch, Osman Gani, guard of Security Branch, Md Masud Rana, liftman of Dowl Bhaban, Sohal Hossain, labour and Rubel Hossain, canteen staff at Sher-e-Bangla Hall.
Based on secret information, the university’s proctorial body led by Dr Sekendar Ali, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the SAU, raided the officers association room around 10:00pm on Sunday and found 14 staff and five outsiders have engaged with the gambling. After supervision, they found that the gamblers were betting cards for money at the room.
During that time, gambling cards and money were seized from their possession. Following their activities, they picked up the gamblellers and handed the outsiders to Sher-e-Banglanagar police, said Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Sekander Ali.
“We detained 19 peoples, including 5 outsiders. The outsiders were handed over to the Sher-e-Banglanagar police while the rest of the detainees will face disciplinary action,” he said.
