Five members of a family sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at a house at Ekoria Tila Bari in South Keraniganj area early Friday.
The victims were identified as Ripon, 45, his wife Manira, 30, Ripon’ s elder son Manir, 14, younger son Goni, 4, and daughter Ripa, 16.
Mafijul Islam, sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station, said the fire originated from electric shot circuit at the house of Ripon around 3am, leaving five family members burnt.
Hearing hue and cry, local people rushed in and rescued the victims.
Later they were rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital with severe burn injuries.
