Two state ministers and a former Awami League lawmaker were sworn in as full ministers while two other lawmakers of the party as state ministers on Tuesday.
President Abdul Hamid administered the oath at Darbar Hall at Bangabhaban 6:00pm in presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan conducted the oath-taking ceremony.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at Bangabhaban around 5:00pm to join the swearing in ceremony.
State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan and State Minister for Science and Technology Yafes
Osman were promoted with the status of full ministers while Chittagong AL leader and former MP Nurul Islam BSc was appointed Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister.
Apart from them, Nuruzzaman Ahmed, lawmaker from constituency Lalmonirhat-2 and Tarana Halim, lawmaker of reserved seat-16, were appointed state ministers for Food, and Posts and Telecommunications respectively.
Talking to this reporter Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal claimed as he is discharging his duties with honesty and sincerity, he has been made a full minister.
“As I have been made full minister my workload has increased. As a state minister for home I always used to consult with the Prime Minister in taking any decision,” he said.
Asaduzzaman hopes that he would be able to discharge his responsibility as home minister with honesty and sincerity.
Awami League sources said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will again restructure her 19-month old cabinet to bring dynamism into her administrative line-up.
On Thursday, the Prime Minister relieved Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam of the LGRD and Cooperative Ministry making him a minister without portfolio.
Immediate past Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was given the charge of LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry.
Earlier on October 12 last year, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique was sacked from the cabinet for his anti-Islamic remarks in the USA.
