Five people, including three women, were murdered in separate incidents in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Jessore, Rajshahi and Satkhira districts on Friday.
In Satkhira, a woman has been strangulated to death allegedly by her rivals over a land-related dispute at Magura village in Sadar upazila.
Police recovered the body of Sulekha Rani Biswas, wife of Sudam Muhuri of the village, from Amalkhitola in the upazila.
Sudam Muhuri said they had a dispute with Sulekha’s nephews over the ownership of a piece of land for long.
On Thursday night, he along with Sulekha went to sleep after having supper.
When Sulekha went out of the house to respond to the call of nature at night, miscreants forcibly took her to Amalkhitola, half kilometre
away from her home. They strangled her and fled the spot leaving the body behind.
Finding Sulekha nowhere, family members started a search and found her at Amalkhitola on Friday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Golam Rahman confirmed the incident.
In Natore, police recovered the body of a youth in Ramnagar area of Sadar upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Arman Ali, 28, son of Abdus Salam Bablu, president of ward-8 of Natore Municipality unit Awami League.
Police said an unidentified youth called Arman out of his father-in-law’s house at Rameshwarpur village in the upazila on Wednesday and he did not return home since then.
Locals saw his body lying in a jungle in Ramnagar area on Friday morning and informed police who recovered and sent the body to Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police suspected that Arman might have been beaten to death.
