At least five more motorcyclists were killed and several others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday.
In Chapainawabganj, two motorcyclists died when a truck rammed the bike .
The accident took place at Rehai char on the Birshresto Captin Mohiuddin Jahangir Bridge’s toll plaza on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Tariqul Islam, 40, son of Abdur Rahman from Laksinaranpur’s Gazipura village under Islampur union, and Piyas, son of late Abdul Gafur of Dargapara Mahalla of Chapainawabganj city.
Ziaur Rahman, Office in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station said that a truck on the way to Sonamajid land ports pushed them from behind when Tariqul’s bike was carrying his partner Piyas.
Tariqul was killed on the spot, but Piyas succumbed to injury later.
In Rajshahi, two motorcyclists were killed when a truck ran over them on the Tarapur Highway in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi around 8am on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Imon Ali, 24, an inhabitant of Boiragipara area under Airport Police Station of Rajshahi City and Sujon Islam, 26, a resident of Tokipara area under same police station.
Locals rescued Sujon and sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where he was declared dead by the physician.
The truck fled away after the accident.
Efforts are on to seize it, said Mustafizur Rahman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Paba Highway Police Outpost.
A case will be filed, the SI added.
In Jashore, a motorcyclist named Abdur Razzak, 30, breathed his last and another rider named Hassan Ali was seriously injured in a road accident when a Noshimon hit him in Jashore.
The incident took place at Mandartala area in Sadar upazila of Jashore district on Sunday noon.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak, son of Bazlur Rahman of Bahadurpur village of Jashore Sadar.
He used to work as a peon of a government primary school.
