Five more people, including a minor boy, died of dengue in the capital and two other districts in last 24 hours since Saturday.
With this, the total number of the death toll now rose to 52 while the unofficial data recorded it more than 113.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), at least 62,217 dengue patients were hospitalised since January 1 to August 24 this year. Of them, 55,881 went home after treatment.
In Dhaka, a one Mahbub, 32, from Naryanganj died of dengue at Delta Health Care Hospital in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on Friday.
Hospital Director Md Nazmul Haque confirmed that Mahbub died around 7:00pm in his hospital.
Also Ajoy Dash, 25, died from dengue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
Besides, Abul Kalam, 30, died from dengue at Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital on Friday midnight.
In Pirojpur, a woman died of mosquito-borne disease dengue in Sadar upazila of Pirojpur district on Friday night.
The deceased, Momtaz Begum, 45, was the wife of Nazrul Islam, a resident of Tejdaskathi village in the upazila.
In Mymensingh, a five-year-old boy died from dengue at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment.
The deceased, Zarif Mia, was a resident of Shikarikanda in Mymensingh Sadar upazila.
