5 killed in separate incidents

UNB, Dhaka :Five people, including an unidentified woman, were killed in separate accidents in the city’s Darus Salam, Pallabi, Khilkhet and Malibagh areas on Thursday.The victims were identified as Shimul, 20, an optic shop employee, Ali Ashraf, a rickshaw puller and Mizanur Rahman, 47, a vegetable vendor of Khilkhet kitchen market, while two others, including a woman remained unidentified till filing of this report on Thursday evening at around 7:15 am.Shimul, 20, an employee of an optic shop of Mirpur-11, was run over by a speedy passenger bus at Kalshi Road at around 8:15 am. Shimul was going to Mirpur-11 from his Kurmitola Bihari Camp residence in the same area.He died on the spot.The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.Earlier, Sub-inspector Masud Mia of Darus Salam police station recovered the unidentified body of a middle aged woman from Mirpur Mazar Road at around 5:30am. She died on the spot.In another incident, Ali Ashraf, 55, a rickshaw puller, was seriously injured when a speeding vehicle hit him at around 6:00 am, said Sub-inspector Salam of Darus Salam police station.Ashraf was rushed to Dhaka Medical College hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10:30 am, SI Salam added.Meanwhile, an unidentified young man, 35, was killed while crossing Malibagh level crossing. A train hit him at around 2:15 am and he died on the spot, said SI Rafique of Kamalapur GRP thana.The body was sent to DMCH.In another incident, Mizanur Rahman, a vegetable vendor, was hit by a train near Khilkhet kitchen market at around 10:30 am. He died on the spot, SI Rafique of the same police station said.
