Five people were killed and 13 others injured on Monday in separate road accidents in Gopalganj and Sirajganj districts.
In Gopalganj, three persons were killed in the road accident. They were deceased were identified as Qamrul Kazi, 65, Mainul, 50, and Mahmudul Hasan Moyna, 40. All of them are paddy field workers and hailed from Baliadanga village in
Boithadanga upazila of Khulna
Golam Faruk, Inspector of Gopalganj Police Station said the accident happened as the workers were returning from Barishal district after cropping paddy. The truck fell into a roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the steering leaving the three dead on the spot and injuring 10 others.
On information, police and fire service rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons and sent them to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital, he added.
In Sirajganj, two persons were killed in the road mishap. They are van driver Jahurul Islam, 40, son of Abu Taleb, and Asir Uddin, 32, son of Thandu Mia, both hailed from Charia Kaliibari village of Hatikumrul union of the district.
Abdul Kader Jilani, In-Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Thana, confirmed the incident.
