Chattogram Bureau :
KFD Jute Mills Ltd. of Rangunia Upazila is being handed over to a private company. The Ministry of Textiles and Jute has finalized the initial decision to give the lease after verifying the tender.
Apart from KFD, four more jute mills in the country will be handed over to private companies.
Among them is Hafiz Jute Mills in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
It is learned that the agreement with these organizations will be completed on January 8. KFD Jute Mills located in Rangunia has four units. These are Karnafuli Jute Mills, Karnafuli Carpet Factory, Development of Decorative Fabrics and Diversified Decorative Fabrics.
It is learned that three more jute mills will be leased in Chittagong zone. These are MM Jute Mills, RR Jute Mills of Sitakunda and Gul Ahmed Jute Mills of Kumira.
According to sources, on July 1, 2020, the government closed 26 jute mills under Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC).
