Five people were injured in a clash between two factions of Jubo League over establishing supremacy in Shah Makhdum Thana intersection area of city on Saturday.
Quoting witnesses, police said two groups-one led by general secretary of local unit of Jubo League Golam Mostafa and the other led by Jubo League leader Masud Rana – locked in an
altercation over establishing supremacy in the area around 12:30.
At one stage, the two groups opened fire at each other, leaving five injured.
Hearing the sound of firing, police from the Shah Makhdum Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the incident.
