A Dhaka court on Thursday sent five Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to jail after rejecting their bail petitions and the remand pleas of the prosecution in a case filed in connection with the alleged mayhem created by Hefajat-e-Islam at Motijheel hub of the capital on May 5 last year.
Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court passed order after hearing. Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) Police Inspector and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Sarwar Hossain sought a 10-day remand for each of the accused to interrogate them about the incident.
The accused Jamaat leader are Shahbagh Police Station Rokon Helal Uddin, Working Committee Member Faruque Hossain, Sura Member Abdullah Al Sani, member Belal Hossain and Haji Travels and Tours Manager Iqbal Hossain.
