5 IU teachers punished

Accused of irregularities, assaulting female students

The syndicate of the university Islamic University (IU), Kushita, on Friday punished five teachers for their unfair involvement in recruitment process, irregularities in academic activities and assaulting a female student.
The 244th syndicate meeting of the university was held at VC’s rest house presided at by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur -Rashid Askari.
Shahadat Hossain Azad, a Professor of English department and Baki Billah Bikul, an associate professor of Bangla department were demoted from their post to associate professor and assistant professor,
 as the charges were proved their guilty recruitment business, IU registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif confirmed it on Friday evening.
Professor Dr Gazi Omar Faruk of Law department was sent to forced retirement while Prof Dr Tariquzzaman of Information and Communication Engineering department was suspended permanently for living aboard without permission.
Sanjoy Kumar, Assistant Professor of Finance and Banking department gave strict warning that he would not interfere on any issues of Shantha, a student of the department who was mentally assaulted by accused Sanjoy in academic activities.
Besides, the syndicate punished Munsur Ali, a diver, for forced retirement for misappropriating of Tk 15 lakh to purchase fuel of the university vehicles.
