Police in separate drives arrested five people and recovered two foreign pistols, two magazines and five bullets in Bandar upazila on Thursday night and Friday morning.
The arrestees were identified as: Wahiduzzaman alias Sujan Mollah, 36, Imran Khan, 42, Selim, 44, Gopal Bhoumick Milton, 37, and Sazzad Hossain, 34.
Being tipped off that some miscreants were planning to commit criminal activities at the house of Jubo Dal cadre Kajal at Salenagar, a police team conducted a drive there on Thursday night and arrested Sujan, Imran and Selim along with a Japanese pistol, one magazine and three bullets,
said officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station Nazrul Islam.
In another incident, police conducted a search in a passenger bus at Jangalia on Dhaka-Chittagong highway and arrested Gopal and Sajjad along with a foreign pistol, a magazine and two bullets around 11:30am on Friday.
Two cases were filed in connection with the two incidents.
