Sitakunda thana police in Chittagong rounded up five extortionists from Sitalpur area under Sitakund upazila on Friday last for alleged demand of tolls and confinement of a container depot for 5 hours . They were arrested from different parts of the areas on nightlong drive on Friday last, district police sources said.
The detained extortionists are Rashed Miah, Md. Sahed, Nazimuddin, Masud Rana and Abul and all these detained allegedly involved with the politics of Chhatra League and Jubo League. Senior Asstt Police super of Sitakunda Circle , Md. Saiful Islam told that local Chhatra league, Jubo League activists desired for contracting work inside the private container depot -BM Containers depot and failing to get contracting work , they demanded tolls from the container depot owner. Following the demand of tolls, the depot was confined for 5 hours on September 18 last .
