5 held for attacking MP’s car at Hijla in Barishal

Police have arrested five people after a case was filed with the Hijla Police Station in connection of attack on the vehicle of ruling party’s Hijla-Mehendiganj lawmaker Pankaj Nath on Tuesday night.
In that attack jeep of MP was damaged and driver Shukkur Ali received minor injury.
The attack was followed by a factional clash of ruling party factions over contesting local union parishad election.
Asim Kumar Sarkar, officer in charge of Hijla police station, confirming the matter said the arrest were made after a case was lodged in this connection on Wednesday night with this police station.
The plaintiff of the case, Ibrahim Sardar, general secretary of Hijla upazila Sramik League, said alleged that the attack of Tuesday night was done by supporters of Barjaliya Union’s boat symbol candidate and Upazila Awami League Vice-president Enayet Hossain Hawlader on way to local Hijla ferry ghat.
