A number of houses including five godowns of jute and plastic products , 3 transport offices and one semi-pucca house were gutted in city yesterday.
The devastating fire occurred at Mazirghat area under Sadarghat thana in city early yesterday . Asstt. Director of Fire service sources said properties about Tk.10 lakh damaged in the fire. Sources said the fire originated from a mosquito coil in one godown which quickly engulfed adjoining godowns of jute and plastic products and the transport offices. Mazirghat is best location of godowns of different commodities and transport offices which is very near of port area. Sensing the news of fire, 10 mobile units of fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the fire after 3 hours nearly about 9 am.
