Five female Ansar members were killed as a boat sank in the Ghorautra river in Bazar Ghat area of Mithamoin upazila early Sunday. The deceased were identified Sabina, Hasna, Beauty, Momena and Ambia, all age around 30. Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mithamoin police station, said the boat along with around 100 passengers, almost all of them Ansar members who were on way home at Nikli after performing election duty, sank in the area around 5:30am. Several passengers including five female Ansar members went missing while others managed to swim ashore. Later the bodies were retrieved from the river in the morning.
