Five officials of Election Commission (EC) including a Deputy Secretary have been sued under Digital Security Act (NID) for linking NID (national identity) cards forgery in Kushtia. However, they went underground immediately after the case.
Senior EC official Anisur Rahman has filed the case.
After investigation the concern authority got involvement of EC officials with NID forgery. The accused are Nowabul Islam, a Deputy Secretary from EC head quarter, Ziaur Rahman, an additional regional Election official of Faridpur office, Magura Sadae Upazila election official Amit Kumar Das, and Kushtia election office’s office assistant GM Sadik Sattobadi.
A fraud gang sold a wealth of Wadud and his family worth Tk 100 crore by making fake NID of the victim with the help of mentioned EC officials.
After exposure of the NID forgery scam, the people of the respective area are afraid of their NID security. They have demanded an exemplary punishment to prevent repetition.
Kushtia Superintendent of Police (SP) Khairul Alam said, police are trying to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, the gang leader and five others have already been held.
