5 drug peddlers held with yabas

Members of Narcotics Control Department (NCD) and Chittagong district police in separate drives arrested five drug traders with 9,900 pieces of yaba tablets from the city and district .
The arrested drug traders were identified as Rashida Begum,40, Enamul Hoque ,18, hailed from Teqnaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazaar district, Ariful Islam,24, hailed from Barisal district, Mehidi Hasan,23, hailed from Bogra district and Golam Mostafa,32, hailed from Ramu upazila of Cox’s bazaar district. In the first incident, members of NCD in a drive detained Rashida and Enamul with 2000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Cinema Place area under Kotwali thana at 11.30 pm on Sunday night. On a tip-off, another team of the NCD nabbed Ariful Islam and Mehidi Hasan from the Ispahani crossing area of Lalkhan bazar under Kotwali thana in the 2nd incident while they were carrying the contraband drugs at about 11 pm.
 Members of Satkhania thana police in a drive arrested alleged Yaba trader Golam Mostafa with 1500 Yaba tablets from Keochaia area under Satkhania upazila of the district on Saturday.
2 electrocuted: Two workers had electrocution and one died at Wapda gate under Bakalia thana early Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as M Zakir, 22 and another injurd was identified as Hossain, 20.
ASI Sillabrata Barua from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost confirmed the news. He said they are workers of a saw mill in the area and they electrocuted while they were working around 3:00 am. They both were rushed to CMCH where on duty doctors declared Zakir dead. Hossain is in under treatment in the hospital.
