5 drug peddlers held with 48,000 Yabas

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Chattogram District Police arrested five persons in separate raids from Sitakunda, Chandnaish and Lohagara areas for alleged involved with drug trafficking. A total of 49,065 pieces of Yabas were recovered from their possession. A mini-truck and a pickup van used for transporting Yaba were also seized. After their arrest, they were sent to jail on Monday through the court, according to RAB and district police, Chattogram.
The arrested were identified as Sumon Barua (32), Md. Tareq (21), Md. Al Amin (35), Md. Salam (21) and Md. Arifullah (26). Among them Md. Salam and Md. Arifullah are known as Rohingya and they reside in Ukhia Balukhali Rohingya Camp. Among them, RAB-7 arrested Sumon Barua from Sitakunda Bhatiari area with 36,575 pieces of Yaba. According to RAB, Sumon Barua were going to Feni from Chattogram with Yaba in a mini truck. Md. Tareq and Md. Al Amin were arrested from Chandnaish Dohazari area with 10,000 pieces of Yaba by Chandnaish thana police. Police said they were carrying Yaba in a pickup. Md. Salam and Md. Arifullah was detained along with 1,300 pieces of Yaba in a raid in front of the Lohagara Chunti Forest Range Officer’s Office. It is learned that they were coming to Chattogram with Yaba from Cox’s Bazar.RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Mahmudul Hasan Mamun told the media about the arrest these drug peddlers in separate raids.
