The cops personnel were withdrawn from Gouripur Police Station hours after the incident. They confessed their connection with the incident to the one-member probe body led by Shakher Hossen Siddique, Additional SP (Gouripur Circle), reports local correspondent quoting Shah Abid Hasan, Superintendent of Police (SP).
The accused are Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gauripur Police Station, SI Abdul Awal, SI Ruhul Amin, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anwar Hossain, ASI Kamrul Islam, and Constable Al Amin.
The Investigation body found their non professional conduct with the mobile and flexi load trader Khokon Mia in Ramgopalpur Market around 9:00 pm on Sunday, the SP said.
Abid Hossain said that departmental investigation is going on against five police personnel. If they are proved guilty, the departmental action will follow.
The cops men seized the memory card of mobile phone and cut off the wire of CC cameras of the shop so that no record can be installed in the camera, said Shakher Hossen Siddique, Additional SP (Gouripur Circle).
At one stage, SI Ruhul Amin demanded some money from Khokon and another police man kept yaba tablets in a self of the shop. Khokon protested it. Following the protest, police team stabbed cruelly branding him as a drug trader, the police official said.
After hearing the screaming of Khokon, local mobs gathered and termed Khokon as an innocent trader and staged demonstration, he said.
Local people became angry and they surrounded the policemen and started protesting. The protesters blocked the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj Road from around 10:30 pm. Later they were kept confined at the local Awami League office, they said.
A CC camera installed in the area found that the police men pushed yaba in the shop’s self to brand Khokon as drug dealer, they added.
