A Dhaka court on Monday placed five policemen on remand in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kanak Barua placed Gulshan Police Station assistant sub-inspector Masud Ahmed Miaji, 44, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) constable Proshant Mandal, 23, and nayek Md Jahangir Alam, 27, on three-day remand.
The court also placed APBn constables Md Roni Mollah, 21, and Md Shariful Islam, 23, on two-day remand as investigation
officer Inspector Paridesh Chandra produced the accused before court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand.
Being tipped off, Uttara East Police Station team and APBn detained the five in separate raids last night.
According to the case documents, the accused on September 11, detained a yaba paddler at a check post in Gulshan Gudara Ghat area. They however, let the accused go, keeping the seized yaba to themselves for selling illegally.
