5 children drowned in two districts

At least five children were drowned in ponds in two separate districts on Sunday noon.
In Dinajpur, three girl-children drowned in separate ponds in Biral and Hakimpur Upazilas of the district.
The victims were identified as Momita Akhter, 7, daughter of one Mizanur Rahman of Kazipara village of Biral Upazila, Sultana, 9, daughter of one Matiar Rahman of Ranipukur village under the same UP and Humaira, 7, daughter of one Habibur Rahman of Kadirpur village under Hakimpur Upazila.
Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Chairman of Bhandara UP in Biral Upazila, said that children Momita Akhter and Sultana were taking bath in a pond near the Abdul Hakim’s house in Suihara village of Bhandara UP. But sadly they were drowned. Locals searched and recovered their bodies from the pond.
Hakimpur Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Nazmus Sayeed said Himu and Humaira fell into the water while playing on the bank of a pond near their house at 11 am. Seeing it , the
locals rescued them from the water and rushed them to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared Humaira dead.
In Sunamganj, two minor sisters drowned in pond at Bimkhali of Jamalganj upazila of the district on Sunday noon.
The victims were identified as Rahima Akter, 5, and her younger sister Muslima Akter, 4.
Saiful Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamalganj Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
