A school girl Mili Khatun (7) was drowned in a pond water at the village Kumrul in Baraigram under Natore district on Eid-day afternoon.
She was a student of the Kumrul Govt. Pri. School and daughter of Masud Rana of the village Sarderpara under Baraigram upazila. Mili Khatun with her mother went to the grandfather’s house Kumrul. She went to a nearby pond for bathing when her mother was busy in works. Later, her body was recovered from the pond which was adjacent the house.
UNB from Joypurhat reports: Two children drowned in separate incidents in Akkelpur in the sadar upazila on Sunday.
In Kanthalbari village, class II student, Reshma, daughter of Rashedul of the village drown in a nearby pond while washing her feet around 11 am, said Kiran Kumar Roy, officer-in-charge of Akkelpur Police Station.
In another incident, around 4/5 years old Sabir Hossain, son of Juhanur Rahman of South Kanpur village, drowned in a pond around 11 am.
The incident occurred when the victim along with his cousin Anu were playing besides the pond. Suddenly a mango fell in the water and they tried to collect it. At one stage both of them drowned.
However, locals rescued them and rushed to the upzaila hospital where the duty doctor declared Sabir dead. The other child was admitted to the hospital.
UNB from Jashore adds: Two siblings drowned in a pond in Sharsha upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rezwan, 7, son of Kamarul Islam of Sikarpur village of Lakshanpur union in the upazila and his sister Maria, 6. Sub-inspector Sheikh Lutfar Rahman of Gorpara police camp said the duo went to a local pond for taking bath in the morning and accidentally drowned.
Later, locals spotted the bodies floating on the water and recovered them.
After taking those to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
