Heavy rains in the past few days have left five children dead in separate accidents in Teknaf and Maheshkhali upazilas in Cox’s Bazar due to the collapse of hills and drowning in water on Tuesday morning .
Of them, 4 persons in Teknaf and one child in Maheshkhali . Besides, 10 people were injured in collision on the Marin Drive Road in Cox’s Bazar.
 Also on Wednesday, a Rohingya teenager was drowned in excess water of the fishery due to heavy rains at Nayapara refugee camp in Teknaf. On the same day, a child was killed in heavy rains in Maheshkhali.
They are identified as Alifa (5), daughter of Md. Alam and Mehedi Hasan (10), son of Rabiul Alam, in Old Palan area of Teknaf municipality. He is a son of Abdul Gafur of Pallan Para of Teknaf Sadar Union and a third grade student of the local Madrasa Hefaz Division Mohammad Harish (10). The dead body of Irfan Ullah (11), son of Aman Ullah, resident of Nayapara Registration Camp-B, Block-B, MRC No-61054 and Somaiya (11) daughter of Abdul Gafur of Ghona village of Kalamarchara union of Moheshkhali were recovered.
It is learnt that Md. Alam’s daughter Alifa(5), was found dead in separate hillside collapse in the old Pallan parade area of Teknaf Upazila on Tuesday morning. Mehdi Hasan (10), son of Rabiul Alam, Zafar Alam’s daughter Sharmin (7) and Alima (17)daughter of Abdus Salam . Atleast 10 people were injured, including parents, siblings and uncles.
Local people of the seriously injured CPP Volunteer, Fire Service and Civil Defense were rushed to the spot and taken to the Upazila Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Alif and Mehdi died while under treatment.
Besides, the seriously injured Sharmin and Alima was referred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, along with a special team, went on a mission to seek shelter for the at-risk residents of various places, including the affected areas.
On the other hand, on Tuesday afternoon, some children, including son of Abdul Gafur of Tekanaf Sadar Union Upazila of Pollonpara were playing in the rain water. He was rushed to Upazila Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

The deceased were identified as Irfan Ullah(11) , son of Aman Ullah, a resident of Nayapara Registration Camp-B, Block-B, MRC-61054, at around 6:30 am on Wednesday.
Early on Tuesday evening, he disappeared with some friends after playing in the rain-fed waters of the fishery adjacent to the camp’s east side. Later, on Wednesday morning, his body was found recovered. He was buried at the local graveyard at noon.
Abdus Salam, the SI in charge of the Nayapara Police Camp in Teknaf, confirmed the fact of the death, rescue and burial of the teenager.
Meanwhile, a child was killed in a heavy downpour at Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning.
His younger brother Riyadh (3) and mother Parveen Akhter were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Chakria Jamjam Hospital.
Maheshkhali UNO Jamirul Islam visited the scene and assured all the help by providing relief to the child’s family.
He urged the residents to move to safer places on the hillside.
Meanwhile more than a hundred settlements have been affected by isolated rains in the hill areas of Hoykong, Nhila, Teknaf Municipality, Sadar, Sabrang and Baharchara Union of Teknaf Upazilas.
