5 businessmen jailed for trading polythene shopping bags

A mobile of divisional directorate of environment on Sunday jailed five businessmen for trading polythene shopping bags in the city. Abdul Halim, divisional director of DoE and executive magistrate, led the court operated at Bazaar Road area of the city in collaboration with the law enforcers.
Tota Mia, inspector of DoE, acknowledging the fact, said Abu Salek, owner of Nure Madina Stores and Md. Harunor Rashid, owner of Harun Stores, sentenced each to 3-months imprisonment with Tk 20 thousand as fine or to serve more 22 days imprisonment.
Besides Mahtab Khan, owner of Khan Stores, sentenced to one month imprisonment with Tk. 10 thousand as fine or to serve more seven days in jail in default and Kanchan Mir, owner of Mir Stores, sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined Tk.50 thousand or to serve more 45 days in jail in default .
