5 burnt in gas line explosion at Bandar

Five people have been burnt in an explosion at a gas line of a garment factory called Knitting Dyeing Factory in Madanpur area of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj. The accident happened around 3 pm on Friday (May 21). The factory was closed on Eid vacation.
The injured were later rescued and admitted to the emergency department of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at around 5.30 am.
The injured were Md. Alam Mia (25), Mehedi Hasan (25), Nazir Uddin (20), Haven Chakma (22) and Bashir Ahmed (25).
 Belal Hossain, a security guard of the factory, said, “The fire started at around 3 pm due to gas leakage in the factory. In this incident, five more people including me were burnt”.
Perth Shankar Pal, a resident surgeon at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said, “Five people came from Narayanganj this morning after being burnt. Among them, 60 per cent of Mehedi Hasan, 18 per cent of Alam, 47 per cent of Nazir, 15 per cent of Haven Chakma and 47 per cent of Bashir were burnt. They are all in critical condition under treatment in the emergency department.
