At least five passengers of a bus sustained burn injuries as it caught fire from a gas pipeline leakage on the Mirpur Road near the Asad Gate in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Wednesday afternoon.
Five of the bus passengers suffered burns in the fire and another pickup van also caught fire at that time.

The bus of Number-7 caught fire in front of Sunrise Plaza just few yards north of Dhanmondi-27 around 3:35 due to the gas pipeline leakage, the fire service official said.
On information, two units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, he said.
One side of the road from Rapa Plaza to Manik Mia Avenue remained block following the incident as the gas was still coming out from the pipeline till filing of the report around 5:58pm.
Mohammadpur Police’s Assistant SI Jamshed Ahmed said officials of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, which is responsible for gas distribution in the capital, were there too and working on fixing the damaged pipeline.
However, why the explosion occurred is yet to be known.
Traffic was halted on that side of the Mirpur Road, and diverted to avoid further complication.
