At the same time, the rival group backed by Vice-President Rupam Devnath and Joint-Secretary Rezaul Islam Majed also took out a procession. When they faced each other, the day long clash began, targeting each other.
The four of the five injured activists were identified as Asadul Islam Roni and Saiful Islam Sumon of the Bangla Department, Kamrul Hasan of the Accounting and Information System Department, and Kawsar Ahmed of the Chemistry Department. They were given primary treatment at the University Medical Center. A tense situation prevails on the college premises.
CoU BCL Secretary Reza-E-Elahi accused the rival faction of beginning the clash. “We just brought out a procession and chanted slogans,” said Reza.
Contrarily, Rezaul Islam Majed, Joint Secretary of CoU BCL said, “We brought out a victory procession as per central committee’s decision. We did not attack our friends.”
Ainul Haque, Proctor of Comilla University said “misunderstanding between the two factions triggered the unpleasant incident. We have asked them to resolve the crisis as per their organizational code of conduct.”
