Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five alleged arms traders in possession of three foreign pistols, three magazines and 17 rounds of bullet from Ichhapur village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Saturday night.
The arrestees were identified as Mahosin,32, Safiqul Islam,29, Kenarul,26, Martajul Haque,25, and Qader,26– all residents of the same village.
Jessore Rab-6 sources said on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested the five at about 11:00 pm.
The elite force also recovered three foreign pistols, three magazines and 17 rounds of bullet from their possession.
Later the arrestees were handed over to Sharsha Police Station.
Officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station Abdur Rahim confirmed the arrest.
