Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) placed five youths on remand for gang-raping a college girl in the city’s Jatrabari area on Tuesday noon.Magistrate Molla Saiful Islam of the CMM Court put accused Saiful Islam Babu, Faisal, Safayet and Robin on a three-day remand each, while the other accused Sumir was placed on remand for one day. Earlier, Jatrabari Police Station SI Kazi Shahiduzzaman produced the accused to the court seeking ten days remand for each of the accused.Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Emranul Islam of Jatrabari Police Station told newsmen that the 20-year-old girl along with her boyfriend came to the house of one of the acquaintances of the boy at Dakkhin Kajla near Bishwa Road Masjid on Tuesday noon from Sonargaon of Narayanganj district.A group of 7 to 8 local miscreants stormed into the house at around 2:30pm and confined the boy to a room. They later violated the girl in turns. On information, police rushed in and took the girl to the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, a team of police, led by SI Abdullah Biswas, arrested three miscreants: Shahadat, 20, Faisal, 22, and Babu, 25, from Jatrabari area on Tuesday evening in connection with the incident. Police also took a woman, tenant of the house where the duo came, to the police station for interrogation.
