Seven days after abduction of five ethnic people including a village chief locally known as ‘Headman’ and his brother were set free on Monday.
They were set free at Dighinala upazila under Khagrachhari district. Priomoy Chakma, Shushomoy Chakma, Modan Chakma, Jotibilas Chakma and Kusumjyoti Chakma were kidnapped on May 26 from Ultachhari under Langadu upazila of Rangamati District.
They are all reportedly supporters of PCJSS of Santu Larma group.
Central leader of Parbarttya Chattagram Jana Sanghaty Samity (Santu Larma) Sajib Chakma confirmed the release of their activists.
Issuing a press release they claimed that terrorists of Parbattya Jana Sanghati Samity (M.N Larma) were responsible for the abduction and released them after getting Taka four lakhs as ransom from their families.
Meanwhile, Prosanto Chakma leader of Parbattya Jana Sanghti Samity (MN Larma) refused to comment and said it is totally internal conflict of Santu larma group.
