Indian High Commission, Dhaka, on Thursday celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with around 10,000 people practicing the ancient Indian discipline at Bangabandhu Stadium in the city. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressed the programme as the chief guest. State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder addressed the function as the guest of honour while Deputy Minister of the ministry Arif Khan Joy was also present.
Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla delivered the welcome remarks, said a press release.
The celebrations of IDY commenced with the screening of a video message of Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sports associations, yoga associations and institutes, intellectually challenged children, Bangladesh Scouts and the students from different schools, colleges and universities in Dhaka and outside Dhaka participated in the celebrations of IDY.
