49 computers stolen from BSMRSTU library!

49 computers have been stolen from the ‘Ekushy February’ library building of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology (BSMRSTU) at Gopalganj. University Registrar Md. Nuruddin Ahmed has confirmed about the theft.
University sources said that when the university activities started at 9 August, after the Eid vacation, it was seen that the computers were stolen by breaking the back window of the library. After analyzing the CCTV footage from July 26 to August 9, it was found that no theft had taken place. Earlier on the 20th, the Vice-Chancellor (Routine Duties) visited the library. Even then all the computers were in place. Therefore, it is believed that the theft took place between 20th and 26th.The value of each stolen computer was 41,380 Tk and the lost 49 computers, valued 2,027,620 Tk.
Registrar Md. Nuruddin Ahmed saidthe authorities were informed about the matter after the university resumed its activities after the holidays. He also said that preparations are underway to file a case.
To investigate the occurrence, the university has already formed a seven-member inquiry committee led by Md. Abdul Kuddus Miah, dean of law faculty.
The other members of the committee are Science faculty dean Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Eng. SM Eskander Ali, acting librarian Md. Nasirul Islam, assistant registrar Md. Nazrul Islam and Registrar Dr. Md. Nuruddin Ahmed (member secretary).
The committee is asked to submit their report within next seven working days.
