48 trafficked victim women return to Bangladesh

A total of 48 Bangladeshi women who were trafficked to India about two years back were taken back to Bangladesh on Monday evening. The victims entered the country through Benapole land port, said Sarwar Hossain, human rights activist.
Human rights activist Sarwar Hossain told New Nation that the trafficked victims were taken back to Bangladesh after initiatives taken by Rights Jessore and different organization in India. Taufiquzzaman, investigation officer, Rights Jessore, a noted human rights organization in the country that work in the field of human trafficking, told that Leena Jabed, superintendent and investigation officer Sujoy of Rescue Foundation, India took the Bangladeshis at Petrapole land port, India on Monday afternoon along with a 10 member police squad. ‘They were handed over to Rights Jessore after having formalities in the evening’, he added.
Binoy Krishna Mallick, executive director, Rights Jessore told that the trafficked victims will be handed over to their respective guardians after providing counseling.
‘The returnees were trafficked to India about two years back. Human traffickers took them there after provoking them to provide in better jobs.’  
The victims hailed from different districts of the country, Sarwar Hossain said.
