A team of Customs Intelligence Branch seized at least 48 gold bars weighing about 5.6kgs from an aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital early Thursday
Ruhul Amin, Assistant Commissioner (Customs) posted at the HSIA, said that a Dhaka-bound ‘BG 046 flight’ of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed
in Dhaka from Dubai at about 2:45am.
Getting information, the Customs officials along with other intelligence members conducted a search in the aircraft at around 3:15am and recovered the gold wrapped with a black cloth, he said.
However, there was no arrest. The seized gold was said to be worth Tk 2.50 crore.
