Around 46 aspirants will contest against a seat for taking admission at the Chittagong University under the 2015-16 academic year.
A total of 2 lakh 11 thousand 952 admission seekers applied for appearing at the admission test under first year Honours courses against 4453 seats, said Deputy Registrar SM Akbar Hossain.
The toughest contest will be held at the Engineering Institute where around 183 candidates will fight for a seat.
A total of 23 thousand 444 candidates will vie for 128 seats in the H unit under this institute. Another tough contest will be held in the E unit under law faculty where some 127 students will contest for one seat. Under this unit, a total of 16 thousand 461 aspirants filled up their application form against 130 seats.
Under A unit (Science faculty), around 25 thousand 776 applications were submitted for taking admission against 546 seats where 47 will vie for a seat.
Under B unit (Arts faculty), around 44 thousand admission seekers will contest against 1441 seats where 31 for a seat.
Around 32 thousand applications were submitted for the C unit under Business faculty against 745 seats where 43 against a seat.
Under D unit (Social Science faculty) around 33 thousand 696 candidates will contest against 883 seats where 38 against a seat. Under F unit (Biological faculty) some 26 thousand 144 aspirants will vie for 547 seats where 48 for each seat.
Around 4922 applicants vie for 112 seats under I unit, 4514 for 85 seats under J unit and 924 for 37 seats under H unit.
Last year, a total of 1 lakh 79 thousand 573 candidates appeared in the admission test against 4477 seats.
About 32 thousand more admission seekers have applied than that of 2013-14 academic session, which will be a big challenge for the university authorities, said concerned authorities. The admission test will begin from November 1 and will continue till November 9.
