At least 46 shops were gutted as a fire broke out at a kitchen market of city’s Halishahor area on Tuesday morning.
Newton Das, Assistant Director of Agrabad fire service, said that a total of 46 different kinds of shops were gutted in the fire that broke out at Godown bazar kitchen market of the city’s Halishahor area at around 8 am.
The reason of fire could not be known immediately but the fire quickly engulfed the adjacent shops, he added. Seven firefighting units from Agrabad and Halishahor fire stations rushed
to the spot and brought the flame under control around 10.30 am.
Fire engulfs chemical warehouse : A fire broke out at a chemical warehouse in Sadarghat of Chattogram City on Tuesday night.
The fire broke out at the warehouse around 8.10pm and spread within minutes because of the presence of chemical substances, said Newton Das of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defense.
On information, five fire tenders rushed to the spot but it took them nearly three hours to douse the flames.
The warehouse management is trying to ascertain the extent of the loss caused by the fire.
