Customs officials in a drive seized at least 45 kilograms of gold worth around Tk 23 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning.
They have arrested three Malaysia nationals in this connection.
The detained persons are Hee Wooi Khong, 38, Johari-bin-Harun, 41, and M Azwan bin Salehin, 21, said Sohel Rahman, Joint-Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.
He said, “Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs officials intercepted them in the Green Channel area of the airport when they were crossing customs hall of the airport and recovered the gold.
The arrested men arrived at the airport by a flight of Malaysian Airlines from Kuala Lumpur around 11:30am, the customs official said.
A case was filed in this connection, he said. “They are now being interrogated.”
