At least 45 passengers were injured when three buses, a truck and a auto-rickshaw collided in the Elenga bus stand area on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway on Sunday afternoon.
Among the injured, the condition of two female passengers of the auto-rickshaw is critical.According to police, the injured people have been admitted to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.
Zahrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Elenga Highway Police said when a truck bound for North Bengal from Dhaka reached the spot at noon, rammed into the auto-rickshaw bound for Tangail from the rear and collided. At that time, three passenger buses bound for North Bengal, struck the back of the truck standing on the road one by one instantly.
He also added, due to the massive clash at least 45 people, including the driver and passengers of three buses and the auto-rickshaw, were injured. Two of them have been admitted to Tangail General Hospital in a critical health condition. Others who were injured are receiving medical treatment at different local clinics.
