A mobile court of Chittagong district administration seized time expired 4,400 sacks of milk powder from a godown owned by Noor Dairy & Food Processing factory at Majirghat in city on Saturday evening.
Mobile court team also seized the fake seal aimed at refixing the expiry date and blank milk powder packets from their possession. Court instantly convicted the owner of the factory Nazimuddin with 3 moths imprisonment and cash penalty of Tk.1.50 lakh.
Executive Magistrate Md. Forkan led the mobile court. Sources said without the legal authentication of BSTI , Nazimuddin imported the milk powder aimed at packaging in his factory with fresh expiry seal and all the milk powder are time expired.
Nazimuddin was convicted with the BSTI act of 1985 and Consumers Rights Act of 2009, sources said.
